On the weekend of October 3rd to 5th the last three races of the season where fought out at the legendary 'ring.
A short recap of the events and the results:
Even after lunch time on Friday afternoon, the temperatures did not raise a bit. But with so many points left to score on the final weekend, nobody seemed to have any troubles getting the tyres up to temperatures. We saw some hot fights for the lead between Paul Conway (Morgan Plus 8) and Christian Marx (TR4). At the time the race was aborted after Philippe Vermast rolling his TR4 Paul Conway was in the lead.
Thick clouds kept the hill tops of the Eifel from cooling out but on Saturday but the cold was swapped for heavy rain for race 2. After an exquisite start Stephan Schamschula (TR6) lanced himself on position 1 but got spun and ended up at the very back of the field. Who ever managed to take their eyes from continuation of last days the fight for the lead between Marx and Conway could see Schamschula cut through the traffic and finish on position six. Exceptional racing from him! This time the head to head for victory was won by Christian Marx leaving second for Connway and third for Kees Rozema (MG A).
Marx' steak came to and end in race 3, he dropped out after losing oil pressure. An again very strong Stephan Schamschula tried to fill the gap but had to give in to Georg Nolte (Jaguar E-Type). Last podium position was secured by youngster Yannik Szczygiel, who well deserved the honour for an excellent performance in all three races.
